Manchester United contact Massimiliano Allegri with the view to the Juventus boss replacing Jose Mourinho as head coach, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly contacted Massimiliano Allegri with the view to the Juventus boss replacing Jose Mourinho as head coach of the 20-time English champions.

Mourinho has remained with United despite the club's disappointing start to the 2018-19 campaign, but the Portuguese's position at Old Trafford is far from secure.

According to Calciomercato, the United board are already preparing for life after Mourinho, and have contacted Allegri's entourage to discuss whether the Juve manager would be interested in moving to England.

Allegri, who has previously been linked with Arsenal, took control of the Italian champions in 2014, and has led the club to four straight Serie A titles.

United are already seven points off the top of the Premier League table, having lost three of their first eight matches of the season.
