Marcus Rashford is reportedly waiting to see the outcome of Manchester United's ownership situation before signing a new contract at the club.

Marcus Rashford has reportedly held off from signing a new contract at Manchester United for the time being.

Rashford has been in sensational form for the Red Devils this season, scoring 27 goals in 44 games across all competitions.

His form could be crucial in whether United can win a potential cup treble this season, with the FA Cup and Europa League still possible on top of the EFL Cup which Erik ten Hag's side won last month.

However, The Sun claim that Rashford is waiting for confirmation on the club's ownership situation before making his decision.

Current owners the Glazers are said to have a wage cap in place which restricts top earners from earning no more than £300,000 a week.

The report says that Rashford has been offered that sum in what would be a five-year deal, but the club's top scorer is said to be holding out to see whether the club's new owners, whoever they may be, will offer him a better deal.

After contracts were handed out giving Alexis Sanchez £500,000 per week and David De Gea £375,000 per week, the Glazers are trying to move away from situations where there is such huge disparities in pay between squad members.

With Rashford's stock so high at the moment though, his camp are rumoured to be waiting to see whether the new owners will move away from this current plan, and offer the England international a substantial pay rise on his current deal of £200,000 per week.
