Jesus Navas: Derby win can be a "springboard"

Manchester City winger Jesus Navas believes that victory against Manchester United will act as a "springboard" for the rest of the season.

Manchester City winger Jesus Navas believes that victory in today's Manchester derby can act as a "springboard" for his side to achieve their goals this season.

Manuel Pellegrini's team entertain fierce local rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon, and Navas has said that a win will be a significant result for the rest of the campaign.

"The winners will come away full of confidence, reinforced, it can be a springboard to better things," Navas told reporters.

"The results of games such as this have a big influence on the title. A derby such as this is like a six-pointer, when the two teams are so close to each other.

"We have enough quality to win this derby and to go on to win titles and cups this season."

Navas signed from Sevilla in the summer for a fee of around £17m.
