Bruno Fernandes: 'Ole Gunnar Solskjaer key to Manchester United move'

Manchester United attacker Bruno Fernandes says that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer played a key role in his January move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United attacker Bruno Fernandes has said that Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer played a key role in his January move to Old Trafford.

The Portugal international competed a switch to United towards the latter stages of the winter transfer window and has hit the ground running for his new club, scoring three times and contributing four assists in nine appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old has revealed that Solskjaer's desire to bring him to Old Trafford was one of the main reasons why he decided to join the club earlier this year.

"There were a lot of final things. Like I said before, since the beginning I wanted to join Manchester United. For me, the most important was obviously the confidence of the coach. I need to know I am backed from the coach, because sometimes when you change club, not every time the coach wants you," Fernandes told MUTV.

"Not like I need to come because the coach wants me to play, no, not like this, but I want to feel the confidence from the coach. You come, you are a choice for me and you come. I need you, I want you, it's not like you come and I ask but I will play? No, this for me is not the point. For me, the point is the confidence he has in me.

"If he has confidence in me, then the rest is working. I need to work to conquer my place, to play, to keep going with games and games and games. For me this is the most important."

Fernandes was strongly linked with a move to United last summer, but the English giants had to wait until January to agree a fee with Sporting Lisbon.
