Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix says that he was not aware of any potential offer from Manchester United over the summer.

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has insisted that he was not aware of any potential offer from Manchester United during the recent transfer window.

The Red Devils are said to have a long-standing interest in the Portugal international, and it was reported late in the transfer window that the club had made an offer of €130m (£110m).

Atletico were allegedly quick to turn down the bid, as they consider Felix to be untouchable, but the attacker has denied any knowledge of the reported offer from the Premier League giants.

"Nothing came to me, it's a matter for the presidents. I am here," Felix told Marca.

The 22-year-old has provided three assists in five appearances for Atletico during the 2022-23 campaign, while he has now represented the club on 116 occasions since arriving from Benfica in 2019, contributing 29 goals and 18 assists in the process.

Felix still has another four years left to run on his contract at Wanda Metropolitano, and the capital giants are believed to view him as a key player for the years to come.

Speaking ahead of Atletico's Champions League clash with Porto last week, Atletico boss Diego Simeone said that the Portuguese is currently 'in his best moment'.

"Joao is in the best moment of the years we have been together, more mature, more confident, stronger and more involved with the team. He has all the conditions, the talent, the ability... he just has to exploit it on the field," Simeone told reporters on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, earlier this summer, Felix said that he was "happy" at the club and hoping to enjoy a successful 2022-23 campaign.

"I'm happy, I'm working to help the team, give joy to the club and all the people of Atleti. The other years I always tried to be better. If this is my year, I don't know. It depends, we don't know about the future," he told AS.

"But what I can assure you is that I am doing my best to be at the best level so that I can help the team and the club.

"I arrived here young, I'm still young but I've already grown a lot and I'm sure to grow more. And I'm fine. I'm happy. I have a calm head and when so, things go naturally and let's hope things are good.

"With [Antoine] Griezmann, with Alvaro [Morata], with [Matheus] Cunha, with Angel [Correa]. We all get along well and on the field, the team is doing great."

Man United ultimately spent big money on Antony in the latter stages of the transfer window, with the Brazil international moving from Ajax in a deal worth in the region of £85m.

A busy market also saw the 20-time English champions bring in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro, while Martin Dubravka arrived on loan from Newcastle United.
