Manchester United would have to come up with an offer of £50m to stand a chance of signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United would reportedly have to come up with an offer of £50m if they wish to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana during this summer's transfer window.

The 21-year-old arrived at Goodison Park from Lille last summer, and he has impressed for the Toffees this season, featuring on 32 occasions in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists.

Onana penned a five-year deal with the Merseyside giants upon his arrival, but he is expected to leave in the upcoming market if Sean Dyche's side are relegated from the Premier League.

Sunday's 3-0 home loss to Manchester City has left Everton in 17th position in the table, just one point clear of 18th-placed Leeds United with two games of the season left to play.

Man United are said to be interested in Onana, with the club's head coach Erik ten Hag believed to have identified him as a leading target for the summer window.

According to Football Insider, Everton would be prepared to accept £50m for the midfielder if they were relegated from the Premier League this season.

However, should the Toffees survive, they will fight hard to convince the Belgium international to reject interest from elsewhere in order to remain at Goodison Park.

Onana started his professional career with Hoffenheim before moving to Hamburger SV in 2020, representing the German outfit for one season ahead of a switch to Lille.

The midfielder then spent the 2021-22 campaign with the French outfit before moving to Everton, suggesting that he would be ready to switch clubs again at the end of the season.

Man United's main priority for this summer's transfer window is to sign a centre-forward, but head coach Ten Hag is also said to be determined to bring in a central midfielder.

Jude Bellingham is allegedly a long-term target, but the England international is on the verge of making the move to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Man United could ultimately be priced out of a move for West Ham United captain Declan Rice, with the Hammers thought to want as much as £100m for his services.

The Red Devils are therefore seemingly exploring other options on the market, and a move for Onana could become an option if Everton fail to stay in the Premier League.

The Belgian has featured on 31 occasions in the league this season, scoring once and providing two assists, with his only goal for the club coming against Southampton in January.
