Manchester United will reportedly have to fend off interest from Newcastle United to secure the services of Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana.
The 20-year-old is yet to take to the field in the 2021-22 campaign due to a horrific leg break sustained in pre-season, but he caught the eye under Brendan Rodgers last term.
Following his emergence in the Foxes team, Fofana has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford, in spite of Raphael Varane's recent arrival earlier in the summer.
However, But! now claims that Newcastle have already made contact with Fofana's representatives, with the Magpies boasting a winter budget of £186m following their Saudi-backed takeover.
The report adds that Fofana is a 'priority target' for Man United, though, and the Red Devils may consider a January move should Newcastle also act on their interest.
The former Saint-Etienne starlet made 38 appearances for Leicester in all competitions last term, and his contract at the King Power runs until 2025.
