Gabriel Obertan has revealed his delight after being given a "fresh start" by Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren.
Poor form and injury problems saw the winger fall down the pecking order at St James' Park last season, but he impressed in Newcastle's 2-2 draw with Southampton in Sunday's Premier League opener and he is confident of making an impact under his new boss.
"We had a few talks and individual meetings. I know what he expects from me," the Frenchman told NUFC TV. "Everybody got a fresh start. That's what I expected from new staff with new ideas.
"It is a really good start for me and I am really enthusiastic for the rest of the season."
