Aleksandar Mitrovic has revealed that he joined Newcastle United because it was the right club for him.
The Serbian striker completed his move to St James' Park from Anderlecht a fortnight ago, with the Magpies reportedly spending £13m for his services.
Mitrovic has said that he turned down offers from elsewhere in favour of a switch to the North-East.
"I had choices, but I discussed it all with my father and we decided this was the best option for me," the 20-year-old told the Shields Gazette.
"I had a good season in Anderlecht, and of course that helped attract interest, with four or five other clubs after me. But this was the best one. It is a massive football club with great history and passionate fans."
Mitrovic could make his competitive debut when Newcastle start their Premier League campaign at home to Southampton on Sunday.
