Newcastle United are reportedly chasing Saint-Etienne striker Pierre Aubameyang.
The Magpies are keen on Liverpool forward Andy Carroll, but feel that their offer of £10m will be turned down by the Reds, who are looking for substantially more to sell the player they paid £35m for in January 2011.
Should manager Alan Pardew fail to land the on-loan West Ham United striker, he will turn his attention to Aubameyang, according to The Mirror.
Newcastle's chief scout Graham Carr was sent to watch the 23-year-old in action recently.
