FIFA announce that goal-line technology will be installed for next year's World Cup campaign in Brazil.

FIFA have announced that goal-line technology will be used in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The issue of technology in football has sparked a debate, with UEFA president Michel Platini notably being against the implementation of goal-line systems.

Despite cases against the technology, systems including Hawk-Eye and GoalRef have been tested and approved by the relevant governing bodies, which allowed the technology to be used during the Club World Cup in Japan last year.

FIFA have revealed that they intend to use the licensed systems in the 2014 Brazil World Cup as well as venues at the Confederations Cup later this year.

While two systems have already been approved, the world governing body is open to various goal-line technologies for the Confederations Cup ahead of their final decision, which is due to be made in April.
