Real Madrid full-back Marcelo admits that he would have like Neymar to join him at the club, but is happy for his international teammate's move to Barcelona.

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has admitted that he would have liked Brazilian teammate Neymar to join him in the Spanish capital.

The Santos striker agreed a deal with Madrid's great rivals Barcelona last weekend.

Marcelo insists that while he would have preferred to play alongside Neymar, he is happy for his compatriot.

"Playing with Neymar is completely different to playing against him," said Marcelo.

"I wanted him to join Real Madrid but I am happy for him, it's a big step in his career."

Both Marcelo and Neymar are preparing for a friendly against England on Sunday evening.
