Alvaro Arbeloa rules out Real Madrid exit

Alvaro Arbeloa says that he will not be leaving Real Madrid and insists that he "could not be happier" at the club.

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has ruled out a move away from the club.

The 31-year-old had been heavily linked with an exit from the European champions over the summer, but he has since claimed that he is happy to stay.

"On 1st September [after the transfer window closed] many people had to hide [after the speculation] and those who in recent days say that in January I will go will probably have to lower their heads," he told reporters.

"I have a two-year contract with this club and I could not be happier, I'm at the best club in the world."

Arbeloa is in his sixth season at Madrid, having joined the club from Liverpool in July 2009.
