Danny Rose desperate for Euro 2016 spot

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose is hoping to fight off competition for a place in England's Euro 2016 squad having made his debut in the 3-2 win over Germany.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has spoken of his desire to earn a spot in England's squad for Euro 2016 this summer.

The 25-year-old was handed his international debut during Saturday's come-from-behind 3-2 victory over world champions Germany as one of four Tottenham players in the starting XI.

However, with the likes of Leighton Baines, Luke Shaw, Ryan Bertrand, Kieran Gibbs and Aaron Cresswell all competing for the left-back spot too, Rose faces stiff competition to nail down a regular starting role for this summer's tournament.

"There is very good competition at left-back. England are spoilt for choice at left-back," Rose told reporters.

"I've had to bide my time but there's a saying 'better late than never'. I hope I can just continue this good form I have shown at Tottenham over the last two years and I hope I can make it on the plane come the end of May, start of June."

England play the second of their Easter double-header against Holland on Tuesday night.
