Danny Rose: 'Harry Kane could break records, but others may leave'

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose admits that he can see Harry Kane breaking records at the club, although some other players may potentially decide to leave.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose has suggested that he can see Harry Kane remaining at the club, but that some players could potentially decide to leave at some point.

Mauricio Pochettino's side enjoyed a remarkable season having secured second place in the Premier League, as frontman Kane claimed all the plaudits with 29 league goals across the campaign.

Alongside rising playmaker Dele Alli and full-back Kyle Walker, Kane is among a host of Spurs players who are thought to be transfer targets for some of Europe's elite clubs, leaving Rose to state that Spurs can only do so much to keep their star players.

"I think the club can only do so much, a lot of it has to be down to the individual," Rose told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I don't want to speak on behalf of anyone but, working with someone like Harry Kane I can tell you that his mindset will be: 'I'm staying with Tottenham, I'm going to break every single record, I'm going to set new records, I'm going to captain this team into the new stadium.'

"So when you've got a player like him with that mindset, Tottenham don't have to worry in that respect. It just depends where that individual is in that stage of his career. A player might feel that he's done enough at Tottenham and might fancy a change.

"Or you might feel that Tottenham is the 'nearly club'. We nearly win the Premier League, we nearly win the FA Cup semi-finals, and you might choose to move on."

Tottenham's second-place finish is the club's highest in the Premier League era.
