Martin Ling: 'Right decision to leave Swindon Town'

Martin Ling insists that his decision to resign as Swindon manager due to health reasons was the "right one".

Martin Ling has said that his decision to resign as Swindon Town manager was "not taken lightly", but that it was the "right one".

The 49-year-old announced his exit earlier this week due to health reasons after only 56 days in charge of the Robins.

"The decision that I took to stand down from the position as manager of Swindon Town was not taken lightly," Ling said in a statement on the club website.

"The club and its supporters have always been very special to me and I would never do anything to jeopardise this relationship but I know that my decision was the right one for me, my family and the club that I love.

"I would like to thank Lee Power, the players, staff and supporters of Swindon Town for all the support that they have shown me and I wish them every success for the future."

Ling's stint in charge of the League One side was his first managerial role since leaving Torquay United in April 2013, when he took time out from the sport due to depression.
