Peter Odemwingie reveals that he was prepared to leave West Bromwich Albion as early as last summer.

West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie has revealed that he has wanted to depart The Hawthorns since last summer.

The Nigerian's future at the club is uncertain following his failed attempt to sign for Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old drove down to Loftus Road from the West Midlands with the idea that a transfer would be completed, but the deal fell through after Baggies officials claimed that the forward had not been given permission to speak to QPR.

Since then, Odemwingie has been fined twice for making controversial statements about his time at West Brom on social network website Twitter.

"I've had probably the worst four months of my whole life," Odemwingie told the Birmingham Mail. "At the moment I don't know what the future is. The truth is I wanted to revive my career because things were never the same after the interview where [former manager] Roy [Hodgson] blasted me.

"After Roy doubted my commitment things were never the same for me at the club. This is the issue why I was not happy. Without going into details, the most hurting part of it all is my personal relationship with people inside the team."

Despite considering a move away from the club during the summer window, Odemwingie stayed put and later again expressed to former sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth that he wanted to leave in January.

While a transfer never materialised, head coach Steve Clarke recently stated that a decision will be made on Odemwingie's future when the season comes to a close.
