Sebastien Pocognoli credits West Bromwich Albion move for Belgium recall

West Bromwich Albion defender Sebastien Pocognoli is enjoying his time in England and credits his move to the Premier League for his recall to the Belgium squad.

West Bromwich Albion's Sebastien Pocognoli has admitted that the exposure gained by playing in the Premier League is probably responsible for his Belgium recall.

The 27-year-old left-back was left out of his country's World Cup squad but is back in the fold for their European Championship qualifying double header this week.

Pocognoli has started all but one of Albion's top-flight games since joining from Hannover in the summer and believes that playing regularly in England has helped him return to the thoughts of international boss Marc Wilmots.

"It's good news to be called up, especially after missing the World Cup," he told reporters.

"I'm happy after the way the season has started for me here. To start well was very important for me. Playing every game for West Bromwich was important. Each game is shown on Belgian TV. If I am picked for the national team, then it'll be because I'm getting good reports.

"The Bundesliga was good but, for me, the feeling was that the Premier League would be ideal for me because of the way I play and the qualities I have. I'm enjoying my time here."

Pocognoli has been capped 12 times by Belgium since debuting in 2008.
