Highly-rated teenage centre Jon Ford has signed a new three-year contract with Salford Reds.
The 18-year-old, who has been selected for Great Britain's forthcoming academy tour of Australia, is seen as one of the rising stars of the game.
Salford coach Phil Veivers expressed his delight at Ford signing the new deal, insisting that he will help the youngster develop in his career.
Veivers told Manchester Evening News: "John has now completed his studies and is ready to start training with the first team squad.
"It's really good news for the club to see him agreeing a new deal. We are pleased with his progress. He is a talented young player with good potential.
"He still has a few shortfalls in his game as you would expect him but it's my job to help him develop."
Ford has been with the Salford Reds for four years.
