The Tigers enjoyed a blistering start to the game as tries from Liam Finn and Daryl Clark inside the opening nine minutes saw them open up a 10-0 lead.

They then put themselves in further control with seven minutes left to play in the first half as Kirk Dixon went over.

Castleford moved 20-0 in front at the start of the second period thanks to a score from Jamie Ellis, while Marc Sneyd, who was impressive with the boot all afternoon, kicked over a penalty on 66 minutes to increase his side's advantage.

Jake Webster added a fifth try for Castleford with eight minutes left, though it was Widnes who had the final say when Jack Owens touched down to get the Vikings on the scoreboard in the final stages.
