Delon Armitage has set his sights on the England fullback jersey for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
The London Irish back made his first international start in 17 months on Saturday in England’s 23-19 win over Wales.
The 27-year-old hopes that his performance was enough to win back the fullback shirt from positional rival Ben Foden.
“I felt like I missed a lifetime of rugby,” Armitage said.
“I have got that hunger again. I really want to be involved for England. I want that 15 shirt. I am pushing Ben. I want that shirt back and he knows it.”
Armitage fell out of favour with the England selectors following a string of discipline problems and bans last season, but was called up to the preliminary World Cup training camp of 45 players.
Coach Martin Johnson will name his 30-man squad on August 22.
