Mathew Tait signs new Leicester Tigers deal

Leicester Tigers full-back Mathew Tait pens a new deal with the Aviva Premiership club after pulling out of a move to Bayonne.

Leicester Tigers full-back Mathew Tait has signed a new contract with the Aviva Premiership club.

The 29-year-old recently agreed a summer move to Bayonne, but he has now pulled out of that deal due to the French side's relegation from the Top 14.

Tait arrived at Leicester from Sale Sharks back in 2011.

"Mat has enjoyed one of the most consistent seasons of his career this year," coach Richard Cockerill is quoted as saying by the club's official website. "He has played at the very highest levels of the game and has a lot of experience for a player still in his 20s. We look forward to his continued input as part of the senior core of the Leicester squad."

Tait has made 38 appearances for England, though he has not been included in the team's Rugby World Cup training squad.
