David Ferrer says that his defeat to Kei Nishikori at the Olympics will not matter ahead of their Australian Open fourth-round encounter.

David Ferrer has said that his fourth-round match with Kei Nishikori at the Australian Open will be much different from their meeting at the Olympics.

The Spaniard was outplayed in London as Nishikori advanced to the the quarter-finals.

However, Ferrer - the fifth seed in Melbourne - believes that the change of surface will alter the scope of the match entirely.

"It's going to be a very physical match," said Ferrer. "He has great shots. Power in all his shots.

"He beat me at Olympics, but every match is different. That was on a grass court, in another tournament. I am confident I will have the will to fight."

Ferrer's best performance at the Australian Open came in 2011, when he reached the semi-finals.
