Agnieszka Radwanska shows no mercy to progress

Agnieszka Radwanska confirms her place in round three of the Australian Open with a straight-sets victory over plucky Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu

Fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska made light work of Irina-Camelia Begu to start day three of the Australian Open with a comfortable 6-3 6-3 victory.

Begu broke in the very first game but could not sustain a bright start, losing the next four games in quick succession to drop the first set 6-3.

The Romanian underdog struggled with a shoulder problem throughout and called for the trainer before the second set got underway.

Radwanska wasted little time in taking full advantage, breaking at the first opportunity to take the sting out of Begu's attempts at a comeback.

Begu kept plugging away as the pair exchanged breaks in a tight second set but ultimately Radwanska showed her class to secure a straight-sets win.

Either British number one Heather Watson or Ksenia Pervak await Radwanska in the last 32 later this week.
