Andy Murray earns first win for Great Britain by beating USA's Donald Young

Andy Murray earns Great Britain their first victory of the Davis Cup opening round by beating the USA's Donald Young 6-1 6-1 4-6 6-2.

Andy Murray has given Great Britain a 1-0 lead over the USA in the first round of the Davis Cup by securing a 6-1 6-1 4-6 6-2 victory over Donald Young.

Aside from their opening encounter in 2011, Murray has dominated his previous meetings with the world number 47 and from the first game, it was one-way traffic for the British representative.

In an opening set that lasted just 21 minutes, Murray won every point behind his serve, and after breaking in three of Young's service games, the signs were already there that it could be an easy afternoon's work for the 27-year-old.

It was much the same in set two as Murray continued to dictate his returning games and with just 49 minutes on the clock, he had established a two-set lead.

However, Young wasn't ready to throw in the towel, and after holding serve five times, he struck in the 10th game to take the match to a fourth set.

The USA camp sensed a change of momentum, but Murray regained order at the start of the fourth, breaking Young in the third game before opening up a 3-1 advantage.

The Scotsman snatched another break of serve two games later and went on to successfully serve for the set and the match.
