David Ferrer and Lleyton Hewitt have won their warm-up tournaments ahead of next week's Australian Open in Melbourne.

The Spaniard - ranked fifth in the world - won his third-straight Heineken Open, defeating Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6[5] 6-1 in Auckland.

Meanwhile, Hewitt crushed 2010 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro 6-1 6-4 to claim the Kooyong Classic title.

The Australian is currently ranked 82nd in the world.
