World number two Rafael Nadal wins his opening match of the Barcelona Open against fellow Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

Rafael Nadal conceded just three games on his way to advancing through to round three of the Barcelona Open at the expense of Guillermo Garcia-Lopez this afternoon.

The world number two broke Lopez at the very first time of asking before going on to wrap up a 6-1 success in the opening set.

Nadal continued to dominate in the next set against his fellow Spaniard, breaking the 28-year-old twice to open up a 4-0 advantage.

However, Lopez responded positively to break Nadal's service game for the first time to reduce the arrears to 4-1, before going on to hold his serve.

It proved to be only a momentary lapse from Nadal, who broke once again to win the match 6-1 6-2.
