Nadal triumphs over Juan Martin Del Potro

Top seed Rafael Nadal sees off Juan Martin Del Potro in a four-set victory.

Rafael Nadal is through to the Wimbledon quarter finals following a four-set victory against Juan Martin Del Potro.

The top seed required a time-out due to a foot complaint in the latter stages of the even first set, before returning to win it on tie-break. He went on to drop the second set 3-6 before del Potro had a medical issue of his own after a hard fall in the third set.

The Argentine succeeded in not dropping a service game until the fifth of the fourth set, after which defending champion Nadal took the match 7-6 (8-6) 3-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 in little under four hours.

Nadal’s next opponent will be Mardy Fish.
