Jo-Wilfried Tsonga fights past Lleyton Hewitt to nab a spot in the second round courtesy of a straight-sets victory.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is through to the second round of the Wimbledon Championships following a tough 6-3 6-4 6-4 victory over Lleyton Hewitt.

The match started off well for the Frenchman, who was drawn in one of the most highly-anticipated opening matches of the tournament, and a break of serve proved vital for the former Wimbledon quarter-finalist, who clinched the first set.

Hewitt, who always has a host of travelling Aussie fans at SW19, tried to force through a comeback in the second set, but once again Tsonga managed to take control and grab a two-set lead.

The third set was a very tight affair between the duo with games going by the way of serve until Tsonga took a break point to go 4-3 up and eventually push through the set and win the contest.
