Half-Time Report: Burnley ahead through Danny Ings strike against Aston Villa

Danng Ings fires Burnley into a 1-0 lead at half time in his side's final-day match against Aston Villa.

Burnley hold a 1-0 lead at the break of their clash against Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season, thanks to a strike from Danny Ings.

The visitors took the lead in the seventh minute when Fredrik Ulvestad looped the ball into the box and Ashley Barnes played the ball into the path of Ings, who looped a header over Jed Steer and into the net.

Villa had a great chance to equalise as Burnley failed to clear a cross into the box and Ron Vlaar pounced on the loose ball, but he could only fire his effort over the bar.

Sean Dyche's side had a great chance to double their lead when Leandro Bacuna lost the ball to George Boyd. The winger picked out the run of Ings at the back post, but the forward could only fire his effort over the bar.

Christian Benteke had the chance to bring the home side level he latched onto a cross at the back post and beat Kieran Trippier in the air, only to see his effort go just wide of the target.

Villa threatened again just before the break, but were denied by an impressive save by Tom Heaton, who made a reaction stop to save a volley from Ashley Westwood and keep his side ahead.
