Borussia Dortmund claim narrow win over Atalanta BC in Europa League

Michy Batshuayi's brace helps Borussia Dortmund to claim a slender 3-2 win over Atalanta BC in their Europa League last-32 first leg at the Westfalenstadion.

Michy Batshuayi's brace has helped Borussia Dortmund to a slender 3-2 win over Atalanta BC in their Europa League last-32 first leg at the Westfalenstadion.

The Belgian forward, on loan at the Bundesliga club from Chelsea, took his tally to five goals in just three games with two strikes against the Serie A side, including one in injury time.

Andre Schurrle put the Bundesliga giants ahead in the first half, getting a foot to a low Lukasz Piszczek ball across the face of goal to prod past goalkeeper Etrit Berisha.

The visitors, however, responded early in the second period as Josip Ilicic scored a quickfire brace, with goals on 51 and 56 minutes, to surge in front and stun the crowd.

Batshuayi equalised with a fine solo effort from the edge of the box, surging deep into Atalanta territory and, with the defence holding back, blasting past Berisha into the top corner of the net.

The Belgium forward then slotted home a close-range winner in the 91st minute, firing on the turn from Mario Gotze's low delivery, to put Dortmund narrowly ahead in the tie.
