Anderlecht's 21-year-old full-back Sergio Gomez is on Chelsea's radar, according to a report, as they continue to search for cover for the injured Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Anderlecht's full-back Sergio Gomez, according to a report.

The 21-year-old Spanish defender has impressed in Belgium so far this campaign, contributing to five goals and 10 assists in 21 league appearances to this point.

Now according to TEAMtalk, Gomez is the latest defender being linked with a move to the Champions League holders, who are searching for cover in the full-back areas following Ben Chilwell's season-ending knee ligament injury.

After coming through Barcelona's La Masia academy, Gomez made the move to Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, but having failed to make an impact in Germany, he then moved on loan to Spanish side Huesca, before joining Anderlecht for around £2m in July 2021.

However, with his contract not set to expire until the summer of 2025, the Belgian side remain in a strong position should Chelsea choose to follow up their interest.

Having reportedly failed with a move for Lucas Digne, as well as a potential recall of Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell at Lyon to this point, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to provide competition in that area of the pitch for the likes of Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.
