Sports Mole looks at how Denmark could line up for their World Cup encounter with Australia at the Al Janoub Stadium

Thomas Delaney will play no further part in this World Cup for Denmark after the Sevilla man was ruled out with a knee injury picked up in the first half against Tunisia in their Group D opener.

Mikkel Damsgaard came into the side in his place, and that saw manager Kasper Hjulmand switch up his formation to accommodate the Brentford man.

With Delaney not available in central midfield, Hjulmand opted to use Damsgaard as a left-winger, switching from 3-5-2 to 3-4-3, as Andreas Skov Olsen was then moved out to the right after starting up front.

It is a very experienced and familiar Danish squad, as only three of the 23 outfield players in the squad have fewer than 10 caps.

Two of those three men were brought into the side to face the French though, as Jesper Lindstrom and Victor Nelsson were both thrown in at the deep end.

Lindstrom was then used on the right-hand side in place of Skov Olsen against France and looked lively, just as he has been for Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany this season, netting eight goals already.

Skov Olsen and captain Simon Kjaer will most likely come back into the side to replace them two though, with the latter having his game time managed sensibly considering he is 33 with an unfortunate history of injuries.

Kasper Dolberg may also come back into the fold, as Andreas Cornelius failed to make much of an impact from the start on Saturday up front.

Their lack of reliable striking options means they will again need to rely on other areas of the pitch for goals, such as the very offensive Joakim Maehle at wing-back, and the long-range prowess of Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield.

Denmark possible starting lineup:
Schmeichel; Andersen, Kjaer, Christensen; Kristensen, Hojbjerg, Eriksen, Maehle; Skov Olsen, Dolberg, Damsgaard
