Andrea Schurrle inspires Germany comeback over Sweden

Germany come back from two goals down to beat Sweden 5-3 in the sides' World Cup qualifying encounter this evening.

Germany came from two goals down to beat Sweden 5-3 in their World Cup qualifying clash this evening, with Chelsea's Andrea Schurrle grabbing a second-half hat-trick.

Sweden took the lead in the 6th minute when Tobias Hysen beat the offside trap, allowing him to slot coolly underneath Manuel Neuer to put his side ahead.

Thomas Muller nearly equalised for Germany in the 12th minute, but his header crashed back off the crossbar having beaten everyone.

Germany were made to pay for their sluggish start as Sweden furthered their advantage approaching half time, as Alex Kacaniklic drilled passed Neuer.

However, the away side gave themselves hope on the stroke of half time when Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil swept the ball into the bottom corner using his weaker foot.

Germany continued on a road to recovery straight after the break as Mario Gotze collected the ball from Ozil, before finishing neatly from the centre of the box to level the scores.

The visitors completed the turnaround in the 57th minute when Schurrle made the most of a defensive error to put Germany ahead.

Schurrle then ensured his side's victory minutes later as the Chelsea man collected from Gotze and applied a neat finish past the Swedish keeper to leave the score at 4-2.

The home side did pull one back, however, as Hysen grabbed his second of the night, but the limelight was to end up on Chelsea's Schurrle as he went on to grab his hat-trick with a 25-yard strike to leave the final score at 5-3.
