James Vaughan no longer taking Huddersfield Town's penalties

James Vaughan is relieved of penalty-taking duties for Huddersfield Town after missing his second spot kick of the season at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

James Vaughan has been relieved of his penalty-taking duties for Huddersfield Town after missing his second spot kick of the season at the weekend.

Vaughan is the Terriers' top scorer this campaign but had his tame penalty saved at Ipswich Town on Saturday as Huddersfield went on to lose the game 2-1 in the dying moments.

It was the second time in a row that Vaughan had missed a penalty at Portman Road after failing from the spot last term.

Huddersfield manager Mark Robins has now said that someone else will take responsibility from 12 yards.

"You have to be brave to take a penalty, which James is, but you also have to executive it properly, and on Saturday, he didn't do that," the Huddersfield Daily Examiner quotes Robins as saying.

"It's one of those situations which had to work itself out, and the role will now be moving to one of the other lads. I will consider which one this week."

Despite Saturday's defeat, Huddersfield remain in the top half of the Championship and next host Reading on Saturday.
