Lazio want West Bromwich Albion's Nicolas Anelka?

Lazio are willing to offer West Bromwich Albion striker Nicolas Anelka a six-month deal, according to a report.

Lazio are reportedly interested in signing Nicolas Anelka from West Bromwich Albion on a short-term contract this month.

The striker's future at The Hawthorns has come under doubt because of his controversial 'quenelle' gesture during a goal celebration against West Ham United last month which is said to have anti-semitic connotations.

The 34-year-old has appealed against the charge of misconduct brought against him by the English FA, but there have been suggestions that West Brom could sell him as they face losing out on sponsors because of the controversy.

It has now been reported by Sky Sport Italia that Serie A outfit Lazio are ready to offer Anelka a six-month deal, although the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker wants an 18-month contract.

Anelka joined West Brom on a free transfer in July last year.
