Christian Fuchs injured in "freak" pole accident

Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs is a doubt for the side's trip to Huddersfield Town this weekend after being hit in the eye by a pole.

Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs is a doubt for this weekend's trip to Huddersfield Town due to "a freak accident" in training.

The 31-year-old has started all four of the Foxes' Premier League games this season but could be set for a short spell on the sidelines after being hit in the eye by a pole.

"Christian unfortunately picked up an eye injury in a freak accident with a pole in training," Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare told reporters today. "It flicked up and hit him in the eye.

"He's seeing a specialist this afternoon and we're going to wait and review that and see what comes back.

"It was nasty at the time, it's cleared up at the moment but until he's seen the specialist I'd like to hold back and see how he is. He's looked better on Wednesday and Thursday but whether he's available for Saturday, we'll see.

"He can see out of it. It closed up straight away and it didn't look the best but by the time he has come in on Wednesday and Thursday it's cleared up a bit."

Leicester go into the game against the Terriers having lost three and won just one of their opening four fixtures.
