Former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise has made a return to football with Chennaiyin FC, just two months after announcing his retirement.
The 35-year-old brought the curtain down on his career in June after claiming that he no longer had the desired motivation to succeed in the sport.
Riise has now reversed that decision, however, having agreed to join the reigning Indian Super League champions - currently managed by Italian legend Marco Materazzi - as the club's marquee player for the coming season.
"We are delighted to have signed John as our marquee player for the 2016 ISL. He is a player with exceptional quality and experience," Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani said in a statement. "We look forward to having a great season from him."
Riise has previously played in the ISL with Delhi Dynamos in 2015, helping the club to the semi-final of the competition during his 15 appearances.
