Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst admits that he would be interested in a move to European champions Liverpool in the future.

Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst has admitted that he would be open to joining Liverpool at some stage in the future.

The 27-year-old has been in fine form to help Wolfsburg challenge for a Europa League spot this season, scoring 15 times and assisting five in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Such form has reportedly attracted attention from other clubs around Europe, and the Dutchman has admitted that a move to Liverpool would be of particular interest.

"I always found Liverpool very special. I still get goosebumps from 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. There are other great English clubs too, and I always liked Milan because so many Dutch played there," he told Goal.

"I am ambitious and want to get ahead. Maybe at some point play at another club, whether in Germany or in England? But at the moment it is still far away. I feel good and try to achieve the maximum here.

"The European Championship next year and the World Cup a year later are goals for me, that would be sensational. I didn't even dream of it when I was a boy, when I was 17 I watched the games as a fan in front of the television. Now, 10 years later, I may have the chance to be there myself."

Weghorst joined Wolfsburg in 2018 on the back of a 27-goal campaign for AZ Alkmaar, and he has since netted 33 times and created 12 more in 70 games.
