Premier League clubs unite to prevent Manchester City competing in Europe?

Premier League sides reportedly launch a bid to stop Manchester City from competing in Europe next season.

Premier League sides have reportedly launched a bid to stop Manchester City from competing in Europe next season.

Pep Guardiola's side were banned from European competition for two years following a breach of financial fair play rules, although an appeal against the decision is currently ongoing.

According to the Daily Mail, eight of the top 10 sides in the Premier League have submitted a joint application to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with City and Sheffield United said to be the only two teams not involved in the process.

The report claims that the Premier League clubs wrote separately to the same law firm, and all eight supposedly object to a possible notion that City's punishment is 'stayed' while the appeal continues.

The finals of this season's Champions League and Europa League have both been postponed amid the coronavirus outbreak.
