Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been included in Germany's 27-man provisional squad for Euro 2016.
The 31-year-old has not featured for the Red Devils since March 20 because of a knee ligament injury.
There had been suggestions that Schweinsteiger would not recover in time to represent his country this summer, but head coach Joachim Low has given the World Cup winner an opportunity to prove his fitness.
Elsewhere, the uncapped Bernd Leno and Julian Weigl have both captured Low's attention, while youngsters Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane also feature.
All of the leading players have been named as well, including Manuel Neuer, Mesut Ozil, Mario Gotze, Marco Reus and Thomas Muller.
