How Manchester United could line up against Newcastle United

Sports Mole looks at how out-of-form Manchester United will line up for their Premier League clash with winless Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will be looking to get their season back on track this weekend when they welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils have endured a tumultuous start to the campaign, with swathes of off-field issues being coupled with poor form on the pitch.

Indeed, United have made their worst start to a league season since 1989-90 and are winless in their last four matches across all competitions.

However, Newcastle appear to be an ideal opponent having still failed to win a single Premier League game this season, leaving them in the relegation zone and three points from safety.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how beleaguered boss Jose Mourinho could set his side out against the Magpies.

Possible MNU XI vs. NEW

Out: Jesse Lingard (groin), Ashley Young (knock), Ander Herrera (knock), Marcos Rojo (knock)
Doubtful: None

Mourinho experimented with a three-at-the-back system against West Ham United last weekend, but reverted to 4-3-3 in midweek and is expected to stick with that latter system for the visit of Newcastle.

Paul Pogba, with whom Mourinho is understood to have seriously fallen out, has started every Premier League game this season and will continue that streak this weekend, with Fred also pushing for a recall in midfield.

Marcus Rashford was United's standout performer against Valencia in midweek, which may have earned him another start for this match, but Mourinho must decide whether to start out-of-form Alexis Sanchez or Anthony Martial in that front three too.

Romelu Lukaku will lead the line, meanwhile, despite putting in a poor performance on Tuesday night and being without a goal in his last five matches.

Victor Lindelof is expected to be drafted back into defence alongside Chris Smalling, meanwhile, with Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia continuing on the flanks.
