Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew praises Mathieu Debuchy's contribution in their 4-2 win against Southampton this afternoon.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has praised the contribution of Mathieu Debuchy following their 4-2 win over Southampton this afternoon.

The win meant that Newcastle leapfrogged the Saints in the Premier League, and Pardew hails the performance of the Frenchman after the game.

"Debuchy was absolutely magnificent," he told Sky Sports News.

"That is why we tracked him for so long, as we didn't want to miss out on a talent like that."

Debuchy arrived from Lille in January.
