Nigeria pick up first win of African Nations Championship against Mozambique

Nigeria win their first match of the African Nations Championship with a 4-2 Group A victory over Mozambique.

Nigeria have won their first game of the African Nations Championship with a 4-2 Group A victory over Mozambique in Cape Town.

Early on there was a flood of goals and it was Mozambique who took the lead in the 10th minute when Dario Khan smashed a long-range free kick into the top corner.

A minute later Nigeria were level when Ifeanyi Ede tapped home a long throw-in at the back post and then Nigeria went in front, with Rabiu Ali making it three goals in three minutes.

It was level again before the 20-minute mark as Diogo slid home after some poor goalkeeping from Chigozie Agbim.

There wouldn't be a goal again until after half time when Ali scored his second to put Nigeria ahead.

The Super Eagles put the game to bed with two minutes on the clock when Barnabas Imenger lifted the ball into the net soon after being brought on as a substitute.
