Darren Ferguson extends Peterborough United contract

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson signs a three-year contract extension with the club.

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension with the club, with Gavin Strachan replacing Kevin Russell in the management setup.

Ferguson said that talks with Darragh MacAnthony were promising and that he was happy to manage the club for the foreseeable future as the two parties agree on where Peterborough can go.

"After lengthy talks between the chairman and I regarding the future and where we both wanted to take the club, and him showing me such support again, gave me great belief of where the future lay," Sky Sports News quotes Ferguson as saying.

"I explained my vision of how we continue to be a success both in the development of our players and also on the pitch. I am delighted to have signed the three-year deal.

"I am very excited at the prospect of being at the new training ground on a permanent basis where we will get the opportunity to do this."

Ferguson has been in charge at Peterborough since 2011.
