Reading manager Brian McDermott has confirmed that goalkeeper Alex McCarthy faces a spell on the sidelines after his injury against Queens Park Rangers.
McCarthy, who crashed into the post when trying to save a Djibril Cisse shot, was expected to face a late fitness test ahead of the game against Norwich.
However, McDermott has confirmed that McCarthy will miss the game and is expected to be out "for a little while".
"Alex has seen a consultant, he has a shoulder joint problem and will be out for a little while," BBC News quotes McDermott as saying.
Adam Federici is expected to return to the lineup in McCarthy's absence.
