Southampton's Charlie Austin out for "several weeks" with hamstring injury

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman confirms that Charlie Austin will be sidelined for "several weeks" with a hamstring injury.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that striker Charlie Austin will be out of action for "several weeks" after picking up a hamstring injury against Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old, who joined the club in January from Queens Park Rangers, was substituted and replaced with Graziano Pelle in the second half of the Saints' 2-0 defeat to the Cherries.

Shane Long was also hauled off the pitch with a knock, but Koeman has claimed that the problem is not a serious one for the striker.

"For sure Charlie is a hamstring injury, [that's] what I heard from the doctor," Koeman told Southampton's official YouTube channel. "Shane was a kick on his knee and I think that's not so bad, but I think Charlie will be out for several weeks."

Southampton are seventh in the Premier League table, four points adrift of a European place.
