Nigel Adkins will take former club Southampton to an employment tribunal at the end of the season over a breach of contract.
The 48-year-old was sacked as manager of the Saints in January before being replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.
With negotiations having broken down regarding severance payments, Adkins is now taking Southampton to court.
"There's been a breach of contract, hence why we've now passed it to the Premier League Managers Arbitration Tribunal," the League Managers' Association, who are representing Adkins, told Goal.com.
"It wouldn't be appropriate to comment further on the matter."
Adkins earned back-to-back promotions to the Premier League with Southampton after he took over the side in September 2010.
