Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen believes that fans must be patient with the team while they continue to adapt under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has called on fans to be patient with the team while they get used to new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs slipped down to 11th place in the Premier League table on Sunday as their indifferent start to the campaign continued with a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United.

Despite their struggles during the past two months, Eriksen believes that it will not be long until Tottenham are climbing up the standings and challenging for a European spot.

"As players, we are all trying to adapt to Mauricio's new style of play and we won't know everything straight away," the Denmark international told the Evening Standard.

"It is still a work in progress but, hopefully, we won't take too long to get it right. We could have done better in some games. We have had some good results but some disappointing defeats too, although it is easy to forget that we are still working with a new manager."

Eriksen has scored three goals in 10 games for Tottenham so far this season.
