Andre Villas-Boas: 'Most coaches want transfer window shortened'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas says that most coaches want the transfer window to be shortened.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has claimed that most football coaches want the summer transfer window shortened.

The issue arose once again this summer, with a number of managers stating that business should not be allowed once the season has begun as it affects players and preparation.

Villas-Boas faced a number of questions regarding Gareth Bale during the first few games of the season until the Welshman finally made his move to Real Madrid one day before the deadline.

"The clubs like it as it is but the coaches are of the opinion that the market should be closed earlier," Villas-Boas said at a meeting at UEFA headquarters, according to BBC Sport.

"The coaches need time to prepare their teams for the season. Most coaches would like it be open less time and closed earlier. Obviously we will have to have further meetings."

Spurs pocketed a reported £85m from the sale of Bale.
